Hurricane Irma covered the American state of Florida. Earlier in it, evacuation was announced, but not all were able to leave the disaster zone in time. Among them was one of the owners of the car Tesla, who turned to the company and said that he could not reach the evacuation zone. After this treatment, Tesla released a temporary patch removing the limitation of the battery lock – this allowed the Tesla Model X60D and Model S60 cars to travel 60 km more on one charge.
The driver who applied to Tesla, said that he could not reach the safe zone and got up 60 kilometers from it. According to the owner of the car, he could not get there on one charge of the battery. In Tesla very quickly reacted to the appeal and released a temporary "patch" of software, which removes the twenty percent power blockage of batteries. This allowed to increase the range of trips on all basic models of Tesla. The temporary update works on all the company's machines located in the disaster zone.
Thanks to the patch, the owners of the Model X60D and Model S60 will be able to use the entire volume of batteries until September 16, after which the capacity of the batteries will again be limited, returning it to the factory values.
